About The Position

Wood is hiring a Business Development Manager - Specialty Chemicals to be located in Greenville, South Carolina USA. The business development manager primary role is to find and take advantage of opportunities to grow Wood's business in the Specialty Chemicals industry. This role will focus on expanding Wood's presence in the Specialty Chemicals sector in North America by identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, collaborating with internal teams, and ultimately winning new business for Wood. Working with the Leadership teams, the BDM supports all positioning, business strategies, business development, acquisition pursuits, key customer management and proposal activities and ensures they are consistent with Wood's processes, procedures, strategic plan and business goals.

Requirements

  • Relevant Chemicals, Life Sciences or other engineering services practical experience
  • Business Development background in the engineering or construction industry
  • Business Development experience in the Chemicals industry market
  • Pro-active attitude, common-sense approach to everyday life, treat all people with respect, integrity and consistency
  • Natural leader of people with willingness to further develop leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • University degree or diploma is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identification, validation and leadership of key prospects and opportunities
  • Conduct market research to identify and understand trends, opportunities, and the competitive landscape within the specialty chemicals sector
  • Facilitate client meetings with appropriate Wood personnel to achieve business objectives and meet client needs
  • Use commercial and contractual acumen to identify barriers to success and enable early assessment of the likely competitiveness of a Wood offering
  • Provide support to aid with accurate forecasting/re-forecasting activities and prospect portfolio management
  • Attend industry conferences and networking events to create and maintain relationships, as well as promote Wood business
  • Create, review, manage and maintain integrity of all opportunity records in the CRM system to ensure accuracy, governance and compliance
  • Ensure independent customer feedback is obtained by carrying out regular client visits
  • Establish strong customer network and identify opportunities well ahead of time to allow for sufficient strategy development and positioning to maximize our chances of securing the work
  • Develop a strong relationship with local partners and maximize combined strengths to identify and secure work
