Filamatic seeks a seasoned Business Development Manager to expand its Small and Intermediate Machines Lines of Business. This BDM role works with customers, external sales agents, and internal groups, e.g. engineering to configure, quote, and close customers on the best packaging solution for their requirements. This BDM should possess a demonstrated, quantifiable track record successfully growing and expanding new and existing business. The right candidate will have sales, organizational, and technical skills that allow usage of Filamatic solutions to meet customer needs and challenges. They will be an effective communicator with the ability to interact at all levels of customer leadership, and internal company executives and peers. The role reports to the National Sales Manager and will principally serve to identify and drive new business and sales in the Small & Intermediate Machine Line of Business.

  • Articulate sales, technology, and product positioning to customers – verbally, and in written proposal format meeting customers technical and commercial requirements.
  • Provide verbal & written pricing proposals in a timely manner to Manufacturing Representatives based on review of information received.
  • Follow-up on sales leads daily by phone or email with the goal of converting the lead from a Marketing Qualified Lead to a Sales Qualified Lead and generating proposals.
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company approved databases and CRM.
  • Ensure that sales goals are met. Covers direct territory and manages Reps in selling to meet designated sales goals. Develop and implement effective sales strategies. Confer daily with Reps on potential projects by phone or email.
  • Assist marketing with specification sheets, tradeshows, etc., related to content, marketing, and initiatives, to increase lead generation.
  • Coordinate with other Sales and Marketing executives to develop an effective marketing strategy and promote the lead generation. Identify shortcomings in a marketing plan and adjust as needed.
  • Provide reasonable sales forecasts after reviewing projects with Reps and customers monthly, for short- and long-term planning and refinement of goals. Identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.
  • Actively manages (motivates/trains) Reps towards achieving profitable goal revenue. Training focused on product knowledge.
  • Perform technical/ product training for salespeople.
  • As required, negotiate and close agreements with small machine customers.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with clients
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree or significant, related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ related work experience required.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to write and distribute both budgetary and firm proposals to address customer RFQs
  • Industry knowledge
  • Proven ability to develop and work multiple small & intermediate opportunities ($5k - $500k) simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of developing, shaping and winning opportunities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, Interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work individually and with a team
  • Understanding of cost structures as applied to building standard and custom systems
  • Customer Service or Sales Support experience
  • 20-25% of the time traveling throughout the year to different trade shows, conferences, and customers (sales, demos, training) that may occur in the evenings or during the weekends.
