About The Position

We are currently hiring a Business Development Manager. This position oversees parts of VA, MD and Washington, DC - primary focus on Baltimore and DC. The ideal candidate can live in Baltimore or DC, preferably the candidate will live in the DC metro area. The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for increasing availability and visibility of Boston Beer portfolio across targeted key On-Premise accounts to generate depletion growth while adding value to our wholesaler and retailer partners. Primary focus is dedicated to identifying and developing new, multi-outlet accounts within the On-Premise chain. Please note that while this position is listed as “working remotely”, our sales positions are field based and require you to live within the territory listed to visit accounts, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience
  • 4+ years sales and/or food/beverage industry experience
  • An intense competitive spirit with an assertive, confident personality
  • Valid driver's license, registered and insured vehicle, and ability to drive to and from accounts continuously
  • Ability to lift and move cases of beer frequently
  • Ability to climb, kneel, and stoop to arrange and display point-of-sale frequently

  • Experience with high-volume on-premise accounts
  • Success identifying, growing, and developing on-premise account base

Responsibilities

  • Execute internal sales objectives & improve account conditions using BBC systems and selling process
  • Learn and be proficient in beer industry knowledge, brewing, and BBC product styles
  • Hunt for new business opportunities while growing current business in multi-outlet chains and key accounts
  • Build brand awareness by sampling, merchandising and engaging with consumers
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication with wholesaler, accounts, and coworkers including ability to deliver impactful presentations
  • Use technology platforms available to mine data to plan and identify opportunities across the account base, market and wholesaler
  • Build strong relationships with wholesalers and retailers
  • Manage budget for given district and account base
  • Assist in the development of Goals, Strategies, Objectives and Tactics for defined account base
  • Market Specific (may not be applicable to all): conduct or participate in Planning & Review meetings to benchmark current progress to goal and sell BBC objectives
  • Regular travel across territory to On-Premise accounts (~70%)
