About The Position

The Business Development Manager (BDM) at Ropes & Gray will act as a strategic advisor to Practice Group Leaders and partners, focusing on business development and client development within the Health Care and Life Sciences Regulatory & Compliance practice groups. The role involves executing marketing efforts, managing client relationships, and overseeing industry conferences to enhance market visibility and generate new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in business development within a professional services firm or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and life sciences industry is preferred.
  • Professional experience, including management of direct reports.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MPH or JD helpful but not required.
  • Experience writing in a professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the business and client development strategy for the HC and LSRC practice groups.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new clients based on the practice group's ambitions.
  • Manage and develop existing client relationships, including organizing business development meetings.
  • Conduct business research to support the BD strategy and keep abreast of industry intelligence.
  • Manage and execute large pitches, proposals, and RfPs, leading a team to develop winning strategies.
  • Work with the Pricing team to create compelling fee arrangements.
  • Maintain up-to-date pitch content and client information.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners for in-person meetings and pitches.
  • Help execute integrated branding and profile-raising campaigns with the Marketing team.
  • Assess conference opportunities and advise partners on participation.
  • Communicate best practice business development activities across the group.
