About The Position

Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way. Overview: The Business Development Manager, Government role is responsible for identifying and pursuing government procurement opportunities that are meaningful to Amca and its subsidiaries. You will evaluate opportunities against our technical capabilities, lead the preparation of proposal packages, and serve as the primary point of contact for government customers and procurement agencies. We are looking for a technically fluent professional who can move quickly from opportunity identification to submission, understands the nuances of government procurement, and brings the credibility and communication skills to represent Amca externally at a high level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related field
  • Experience in government procurement, business development, or a customer-facing role within aerospace or defense
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — comfortable interfacing directly with government customers and internal technical teams
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in government business development, proposals, or program management within aerospace or defense
  • Familiarity with DLA, ESA, or similar government procurement agencies and their processes
  • Experience writing and submitting government proposal packages or SAR documentation
  • Technical degree or hands-on technical background — ability to read and evaluate engineering requirements independently
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations and government contracting compliance
  • Existing relationships within government procurement or defense supply chain communities
  • Proficiency with CRM or pipeline management tools

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and generate government procurement opportunities aligned with Amca's technical capabilities and strategic priorities
  • Perform first-cut technical assessments of opportunities, determining fit and potential impact before committing internal resources
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposal packages, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and competitiveness
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Amca and government procurement agencies — owning the relationship, managing ongoing communication, and representing the company with professionalism and credibility
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to validate technical feasibility and gather inputs for proposals
  • Track submission deadlines, contract status, and pipeline activity — maintaining visibility across all active and pending opportunities
  • Stay current on government procurement regulations, compliance requirements, and relevant agency priorities
  • Track key metrics — win rate, proposal volume, pipeline value, and cycle time from identification to submission — to measure performance and continuously sharpen our pursuit strategy
