About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Business Development Manager to join our Global Business Development team, providing BD support to the Disputes/Litigation practice areas. The Business Development Manager will work with the Practice Group Leaders and the members of these practices to define and execute business growth objectives, identify target opportunities, develop and coordinate business development plans, and work with related teams to grow the firm's business base. This Business Development Manager serves as a catalyst and facilitator for client expansion and targeted initiatives and utilizes creativity, tenacity and leadership to build trust-based relationships that help the leadership and members of the practice groups define, implement and measure sound business development and marketing strategies that will be the foundation for profitable growth. This individual provides counsel on strategy, client relationship building, and marketing/sales techniques and takes a firmwide view towards inclusive participation across regions and practices to maximize client relationships and growth/revenue opportunities. The responsibilities of the role are varied and will include, but are not limited to: Working closely with Practice Group Leaders and Members of Practice Groups to develop and implement business plans Working with individual lawyers to help them develop and deliver their personal business development plans Developing in-depth knowledge of the Practice Groups, including attorney expertise, firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, trends and clients Providing primary support in preparing responses to domestic and cross-border requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and other pitches, proposals, capability statements and client-facing materials for new or expanded business Preparing and managing the BD budget for practice groups Preparing the practice group's regular work communication tools - including details of new instructions, pitches and proposals, meetings, events and PR/Media activity as appropriate This role may include supervision of additional business development support resources.

Requirements

  • A four-year college degree. Marketing, English, Communications or other business degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of five years business development, marketing, communications, sales or related experience - preferably international experience in a professional services environment.
  • Proven project management track record.

Nice To Haves

  • Business/Marketing Masters or J.D. degree a plus.
