About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated, hard-working outside sales individual to join our team and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position is remote and will require travel. This individual should ideally have sales experience in the transportation & logistics industry. They must be self-starting, possess excellent negotiation skills, and have exemplary communication abilities. They must be able to work independently and without direct, daily supervision to close new business transactions, achieve sales revenue goals and strengthen existing customer relationships.

  • College degree preferred, or HS diploma with 3+ years of work experience in B2B sales.
  • 3 years of direct sales experience (transportation sales is a plus regardless of educational level)
  • CTB, logistics coursework or sales coursework a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with technology including but not limited to use of a CRM; Strong usages of Microsoft Office products with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint mandatory; ability to navigate multiple computer programs/screens at one time; ability to search internet for research purposes; must be able to navigate usage of cell phone and computer
  • Understanding and active usages of LinkedIn, Twitter, and other key social media
  • Strong communication skills using the phone, Email and in person; personable in tone and style; easy to understand; professional use of grammar and spelling; empathetic; solid listening skills
  • Must be an excellent multi-tasker, be able to prioritize activities, manage time effectively
  • A commitment to excellent work attendance and staying on task is required
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
  • Remote BDE must have dedicated office space to conduct work in a professional manner

Responsibilities

  • The primary function of the Business Development Executive (BDE) is to help the Company achieve customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives, through creating positive, long-lasting and profitable relationships with prospective and current customers.
  • The BDE owns the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation to retention and must be comfortable making dozens of calls daily in person, via the phone and virtually. These calls include cold calls, presentation calls, follow-up calls and retention calls.
  • Generating prospective customer lists using a variety of resources including but not limited to lead lists, internet research, referral follow up.
  • Fully qualify prospects as potential customers, based on Company’s offerings, through cold calls and email; enter all suspects and prospects into CRM and Dispatch system(s).
  • Develop and execute individual sales strategy for each qualified prospect and existing account to meet sales targets for revenue and profitability. Strategies should include but are not limited to the development of appropriate call cycle, follow-up strategies, and direct marketing activities.  Ensure all activities are logged in the CRM and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders in the Company.
  • Move qualified prospects through the pipeline while maintaining proper “mix” of suspects, prospects, targets, and active shippers. Account mix should be well balanced by account revenue classification (A, B, C, D), geography, vertical market.
  • Prepare and deliver sales pitches/presentations/proposals to both prospective and existing customers to demonstrate how S-2’s service lines solve the customers’ unique challenges.
  • With the support of the marketing team, run outbound sales and direct marketing campaigns to create sales opportunities and improve branding.
  • Work with Operations team, as well as Management to develop account service and pricing strategies to move prospects/targets into active shipper status; continue to manage active shippers for maintenance and growth through direct sales efforts.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction through regular customer engagement.
  • Maximize profitability in quoting and in RFP responses while putting customer satisfaction and quality service at the forefront.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports as required; sales revenue forecasting is also required.
  • Meet/exceed all KPIs including but not limited to revenue, profit, and sales activities.
  • Management and control of pipeline with size/scope necessary to meet the Company’s operating objectives and BDE’s individual quotas and objectives.
  • BDE will be involved with quoting, booking and/or dispatching of opportunities in new accounts during “on-boarding” phase. At the appropriate time, BDE will transition the account fully to the operations team for handling while ensuring customer expectations are being met.
  • Be aware of active shipments with accounts and intervene as necessary when there are issues and/or to follow up for further opportunities.
  • Work closely with all departments to combine efforts and foster a collaborative approach to business development.
  • Understand and communicate customer needs to ensure needs are met; assist in service issues for favorable outcome.
