About The Position

At IDB Global Federal Credit Union, we build and strengthen relationships with members by providing them with smart financial solutions while living our values. We are looking for a Business Development & Event Specialist who will play a critical role in driving member acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth by leading business development initiatives and executing high-impact events. This role bridges strategy and execution -owning outreach efforts, presentations, and logistics- while working in close collaboration with the Marketing team to ensure alignment, consistency, and maximum return on investment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 6-8 years in business development, events management, marketing, and/or agency experience.
  • Bilingualism in both English and Spanish is a mandatory requirement for working in a multicultural and international environment.
  • Hybrid work model (2 days remote, 3 days at the office – mandatory).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and research skills.
  • Strong business development mindset with a focus on growth, relationships, and results.
  • Team player who can build strong relationships with different teams.
  • Quick learner with exceptional ability to master new concepts and software applications.
  • Detail-oriented and effective at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks under a tight schedule.
  • Extensive coordination with others is key to this position, so organization and time management are critical.
  • Strong attention to detail and rapid problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must have valid work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the IDB Group organizational environment is a plus.
  • Graphic design experience desirable: Adobe Illustrator.
  • Previous knowledge and/or experience with financial institutions/not-for-profits is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual Business Development plan in alignment with organizational growth and member acquisition goals.
  • Lead outreach and relationship-building efforts with key stakeholders, including departments at HQ, Country Offices (COFs), and associations.
  • Support new member acquisition through targeted presentations, events, and engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and execute follow-up communications activities to maximize the impact of the Business Development events.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute major member and community events, including but not limited to: Annual Meeting, Annual Staff Luncheon, Country Office (COF) events (in-person and virtual), Heritage Month celebrations, Educational Seminars (including webinars), Power Talks, Table events at HQ, and community presentations.
  • Own end-to-end execution: planning, logistics, vendor coordination, budgeting, timelines, on-site/virtual execution, and post-event follow-up and metrics analysis.
  • Ensure events are growth-focused, measurable, and aligned with product promotion and acquisition goals.
  • Track and report on business development and event performance, including attendance, engagement, lead generation, and conversion metrics.
  • Measure and test the effectiveness of the efforts and support continuous improvement by identifying new opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Marketing team to ensure events and business development initiatives are fully integrated with marketing campaigns and messaging, properly promoted, and leveraged across digital channels.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and IDB areas to align priorities and maximize impact.
  • Oversee the work of external vendors, including but not limited to designers, audiovisual producers, printers, speakers, etc. Obtain price estimates from vendors to ensure costs stay within the annual budget, as directed by the marketing plan.
