About The Position

Our award-winning Interior Architecture and Place Consulting practices shape experiences across interior design, public realm and retail strategy. We are seeking a Business Development Director who is equally comfortable talking to restaurant and hotel operators, retail developers, and C-suite executives – someone fluent in the language of retail fundamentals, placemaking and design, who can build trust and credibility as a subject matter expert. In this role, you’ll drive growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business for both our Interior Design studio and Place Strategy practice. You’ll partner with designers, strategists, and consultants to bring forward opportunities that elevate spaces, strengthen retail and hospitality concepts, and build lasting value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • 5 + years of business development experience in some or all of the following: Retail, Real Estate (across all use types, such as retail in residential, multi family, office to residential conversions and mixed-use projects), Hospitality Design, Multifamily Design, or macro fundamentals around commercial development.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads, close deals, and grow business.
  • Existing network in the industry and a passion for relationship building.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; HubSpot experience a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed based on client opportunities.
  • Energetic, collaborative, and self-motivated - with a strong desire to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities across all lines of service, including Interior Architecture, Public Realm, and Retail Strategy.
  • Speak fluently with restaurant, hotel, and retail operators and owners – understanding their vocabulary, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Have a deep understanding of Real Estate in multifamily, residential conversions, senior living and student housing facilities.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, qualifying leads and pursuing outbound opportunities aligned with our growth strategy.
  • Represent Streetsense at industry events and cultivate relationships that create long-term value.
  • Qualify incoming leads and pursue outbound opportunities aligned with our growth strategy.
  • Lead and support the proposal process, including pitch materials, decks, and meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with business line leaders and company leadership to execute business development plans.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of pipeline activity and provide insights through regular updates and reporting.
  • Conduct research on potential clients, markets, and trends to inform sales strategy.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective clients, existing contacts, and key partners to build long-term value.
  • Plan and attend events that drive visibility, engagement, and lead generation.
  • Maintain accurate and current records in HubSpot CRM (experience strongly preferred).
