About The Position

The Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Business Development Director consults senior-level CPG Executives about how research can transform their companies, customers and consumers. A highly motivated CPG sales professional can use their knowledge of market trends and Hanover’s market research capabilities to craft compelling solutions and generate revenue for the company while maximizing personal earning potential. Our CPG Business Development Directors play a critical role driving the growth and expansion of one of the fastest growing sectors of our firm. They are passionate about the CPG industry and are dedicated to high-performance in their career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (business, social sciences, education, communications, political science, economics, psychology, public policy preferred)
  • 4-7 years of consultative sales experience working in market research or a related field
  • 2-5+ years of experience selling into the Consumer Packaged Good industry
  • Familiarity with the CPG value chain across branded and private label manufacturers.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to teach, tailor, and lead a narrative.
  • Business acumen – namely the ability to understand and empathize the root causes and needs of senior-level CPG executives
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage a busy pipeline and meeting calendar
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Salesforce

Responsibilities

  • Own a full-cycle sales process from initial outreach to client onboarding
  • Segment a territory of approximately 700+ accounts to strategically target and engage via a multi-channel approach (email, phone, social media, in-person events, etc.)
  • Consult with prospects to identify challenges and issues impacting their CPG business
  • Educate prospects on solutions offered by Hanover’s unique products and services, including a.) a fixed-fee annual engagement model, b.) ad hoc productized offerings, and c.) new innovations.
  • Manage a robust pipeline of prospects vis-à-vis a dedicated Business Development Associate working in tandem with you
  • Accurately forecast based upon realistic opportunity assessment
  • Meet challenging monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals
  • Embrace on-going learning and bring a can-do mindset to business building
