About The Position

We’re looking for a part-time, contract Business Development Associate Business Development Associate to support and scale top-of-funnel pipeline generation. This role plays a key part in strengthening commercial operations by increasing the volume, quality, and consistency of qualified partner and customer meetings. The Business Development Associate will own lead generation activities, CRM management (HubSpot), and business development operations support. By driving operational rigor and early-stage outreach, this role meaningfully contributes to strategic partner engagement and deal progression. This role will be based on-site in Emeryville, CA. The contract is expected to last for 3-6 months with the possibility of extension. The schedule will be approximately 20-30 hours weekly with exact hours flexible. You will report to the Senior Manager Business Development and will work closely with our Fractional Chief Business Officer and VP of Product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Current MBA and masters students are also encouraged to apply.
  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing operations, or a related commercial role (biotech or life sciences experience preferred)
  • Experience with CRM systems (HubSpot strongly preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to conduct structured prospect research and manage outbound campaigns
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and supporting senior commercial leaders
  • Motivated to grow into a full business development role over time
  • Excited to learn about new, disruptive technologies and curious to understand how they create value for our customers

Responsibilities

  • Execute outbound email and LinkedIn campaigns, including follow-ups and light lead qualification
  • Conduct prospect research, account targeting, contact sourcing, and lead list building
  • Maintain and improve CRM (HubSpot) data accuracy, pipeline hygiene, and activity tracking
  • Support preparation of monthly commercial reporting and investor or board materials
  • Coordinate marketing operations, including email campaigns, content distribution, conference follow-ups, and nurture programs
  • Participate in business development and cross-functional meetings, including pipeline reviews and coordination with technical teams
  • Ensure consistent pipeline preparation and early-stage qualification to increase qualified meeting volume
