About The Position

The Business Development Associate is responsible for generating new business opportunities, supporting pipeline development, and contributing to BLDI’s overall growth through consistent outreach and relationship building. This role is centered on proactive engagement, market activity, and opportunity creation across all BLDI service areas. Success in this position is defined by the ability to create connections, open doors, and generate opportunities that contribute to long-term revenue growth. Serving as an external representative of the firm, this role supports BLDI’s continued expansion by building early-stage relationships and driving pipeline momentum. The Business Development Associate is a growth-focused role designed for a motivated professional energized by creating opportunity, building relationships, and contributing to pipeline development. This position is best suited for individuals who are proactive, driven, and motivated by activity, growth, and business impact. Opportunity creation and pipeline development are core functions of this role. The position provides a strong foundation for long-term growth within business development and offers the potential to expand into greater responsibility over time.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a client-facing or sales-related role such as business development, sales, account support, or professional services
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build rapport
  • Demonstrated initiative, work ethic, and self-motivation
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through and time management skills
  • Comfortably representing services at a high level and learning technical offerings over time
  • Effective communicator across phone, email, written correspondence, and meetings
  • Comfort operating in a performance-driven, activity-focused environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly for face-to-face client engagement
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including but not limited to personal and professional financial history, nationwide criminal record search, credit check, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WFS.

  • Experience in environmental consulting, banking, real estate, development, energy, or related industries preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive outreach and engagement
  • Initiate and develop relationships across BLDI’s target markets
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospects and early-stage opportunities
  • Actively pursue market visibility through meetings, networking, and outreach
  • Represent BLDI professionally in all client interactions
  • Support the development and progression of opportunities across BLDI’s service lines including Environmental Due Diligence, Remediation, and Federal work
  • Assist with proposal development, including coordination, messaging, and follow-up
  • Maintain and track activity, opportunities, and pipeline progress within CRM tools
  • Contribute to the growth of client relationships through consistent engagement and follow-through
  • Represent BLDI at industry events, networking functions, and client-facing engagements
  • Share market feedback, client insights, and opportunity updates with leadership and internal teams
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure opportunities are aligned with client needs and expectations
  • Support team efforts by contributing to pipeline development and opportunity flow
