The Property & Inland Marine (P&IM) Division operates in all 50 states and partners with more than 2,000 independent agents nationwide. Our product portfolio includes Property, Builders’ Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, Motor Truck Cargo, and other Inland Marine coverages. Inland Marine Insurance - Property & Inland Marine - Great American Insurance Group We are seeking a Business Developer to support and grow agency relationships across the Southwest territory (TX, LA, AR, OK, NE, SD, ND, WY, CO, NM). This role is responsible for driving profitable growth through strategic agency development, market representation, and collaboration with underwriting partners. Travel is required up to 70%. When not traveling, the role is based out of the Richardson, TX office with a four-day in-office schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry, sales, or business development experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%.

  • Progress toward professional insurance designations preferred (AMIM®, CPCU, CIC, INS, ARM).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a profitable, high-performing agency network within the assigned territory.
  • Execute strategic territory and marketing plans aligned with agency strengths, market conditions, and business objectives.
  • Prospect, appoint, and manage agency relationships to drive production, growth, and profitability.
  • Analyze agency performance and implement action plans, including corrective actions when needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and agency partners to strengthen relationships and resolve issues.
  • Lead agency meetings, sales calls, and strategic planning sessions; deliver marketing presentations and product demos.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking functions as a brand ambassador.
  • Market company products and provide training on coverage, underwriting appetite, positioning, and services.
  • Gather and analyze competitive intelligence to inform market strategy and business decisions.
  • Support underwriting and portfolio management by making profit-oriented decisions, monitoring performance, and assisting with complex accounts within authority.
