About The Position

The Business Data Steward position involves identifying critical business processes and data elements in alignment with established policies, standards, and procedures. The role ensures that data controls are implemented and maintained to support business processes effectively. The steward participates in domain working groups and data management routines to stay informed of industry trends and support data accuracy and completeness through the supply chain. This position is office-centric and not eligible for remote work or visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, including 5 years of experience managing business processes or technical-related decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools.
  • Project management experience.
  • Analytical and architectural skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business analytics, computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Data and Analytics including emerging trends.
  • Understanding of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in financial institutions.
  • Banking or financial services experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in definition and validation of business critical processes and associated critical data elements (CDEs).
  • Onboard new CDEs specific to corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group.
  • Propose new CDEs and Data Domains to Data Domain Working Group for approval.
  • Review assigned CDEs and their business metadata on an established frequency basis.
  • Discover and execute CDE change requests.
  • Submit CDE change requests for approval to Data Domain Working Group.
  • Perform business process and traceability mapping.
  • Review trusted source assignments.
  • Define data quality rules and standards for corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group.
  • Partner with Technical Business Stewards to implement Data Quality rules.
  • Monitor Data Quality activities, track data issues and risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve Data Quality Issues.
  • Onboard new CDEs' related business metadata.
  • Update central metadata repository with business metadata content.
  • Review CDEs' metadata on an established frequency basis.
  • Discover and execute CDE metadata update requests.
  • Get CDE metadata change requests approved with Data Domain Working Group.
  • Monitor data security for data elements.
  • Report or escalate data privacy issues to Data Privacy Group.
  • Review data requirements to enable compliance with Privacy Policy.
  • Define Data Privacy rules and align them with the Enterprise Privacy Policy.
  • Participate in defining archiving, retention, and data destruction requirements.
