Business / Data Analyst
About The Position
CGI has an immediate need for a Business / Data Analyst to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest customers. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years! This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA. A hybrid working model is acceptable. We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Business / Data Analyst to support backend data initiatives and collaborate closely with development and testing teams. This role focuses on gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements while serving as a key liaison between stakeholders and technical teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in Agile environments, leading requirement discussions, and ensuring clarity across development lifecycles. Because this is a backend-focused role, strong SQL skills are essential, including the ability to write complex queries and work across multiple joined tables. Experience with AWS data platforms and familiarity with structured data formats such as XML and JSON will be important in supporting data analysis and system integration efforts.
Requirements
- Strong experience in business and/or data analysis (mid to senior level)
- Proven ability to capture, analyze, and document requirements clearly and thoroughly
- Experience serving as a point of contact between business, development, and QA teams
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and participation in Agile ceremonies
- Advanced SQL skills, including Writing complex queries Joining multiple tables Analyzing backend data structures
- Experience working with AWS platforms, particularly: Aurora PostgreSQL Amazon Redshift
- Working knowledge of XML and JSON data formats
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for tracking stories, documentation, and collaboration
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical details into business-friendly language
