Otter Tail Power Company is seeking a qualified Business Data Analyst to lead the development, support, and ongoing operation of business data systems that support electric utility operations, analytics, and reporting. This position serves as a subject matter expert for business data processes and plays a critical role in ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, and effective integration across enterprise applications. This role is responsible for overseeing the day to day operation and analysis of business data systems, including identifying and resolving daily data exceptions, performing root cause analysis related to data quality and system performance, and completing required operational and regulatory reporting. The position supports data validation, editing, and estimating processes for electric utility data and ensures daily synchronization between business data platforms and related systems such as the AMI Head End, Customer Information System (CIS), Geographic Information System (GIS), Web Portal, Historian, Load Management, and other ancillary systems. The Business Data Analyst provides accurate data and develops technical and analytical reports to support internal stakeholders and asset analysis initiatives, participates in system upgrades and enhancements, and provides backup support for the AMI Operator as needed. What We’re Looking For The successful candidate will have a four year degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in business data analysis, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems, data analytics, or a closely related field. Experience with electric utility rates and billing processes, computer systems analysis, and application support is required, along with strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and time management skills. Candidates must be able to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and demonstrate customer service and utility billing experience, strong reporting and data analysis capabilities, and development, scripting, or programming skills. Knowledge of electrical meters and electric distribution systems and operations is highly desirable. The role also requires experience supporting data architecture, data management, and archiving, as well as the ability to manage and support multiple application environments, including Test, Development, Disaster Recovery, and Production. Five or more years of related experience is preferred.
