About The Position

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects. Position Summary Temporary, Staff, Part Time, Non-Benefited, position through 9/30/2026 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). Salary: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour. Location: Off campus. Applicants will choose which site(s) they would like to be stationed. Riverside 3985 University Ave., Riverside, CA 92501. San Bernardino- 330 N D St., 5th Floor, San Bernardino, CA 92401. Temecula- 43200 Business Park Dr., Temecula, CA 92590. Work Schedule 19 hours per week. Schedule will vary. Typically, within the range of Monday–Saturday 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Requirements

  • Any combination of experience and education that would equal three (3) years full-time professional experience aiding and counseling small businesses.
  • Knowledge of financial aspects of business, such as identifying sources of capital, loan analysis or packaging.
  • Principles and practices of business management including establishment of a new business
  • Principles and requirements of business law, taxation, and employment regulations.
  • Data gathering and report writing, professional standards
  • Must have the ability to analyze the operational aspects of a business and assist in the development of business plans.
  • Ability to express ideas professionally, clearly, and effectively in oral and written communications.
  • Experience developing and conducting oral presentations for groups.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, preparing clear and concise reports and keeping apprised of federal, state and local and program regulations and policies.
  • Experience learning new computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain open and effective working relationships with staff and services clients and groups, other professionals and the public.
  • Experience working with persons from diverse economic and social backgrounds.
  • Applicants must be sensitive to the needs of a diverse client base.
  • Applicants must be computer literate and have good typing skills.
  • Ability to conduct web-based research, use social media effectively, and proficiency in the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Ability to travel regionally to meetings, presentations, trainings, and conferences.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one business counseling and assistance to clients in the areas of business planning, operations management, accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, or other area of small business development based on skill set.
  • Deliver workshops in response to identified needs, demands and local area economic development both in-person and remotely.
  • Assist in special projects as determined by the Project Director and/or the needs of the small business community. Including attending and supporting community events by set-up and breakdown of booths.
  • Promote the IEWBC by making oral and written presentations to local and regional business associations, chambers of commerce, service clubs and other community-based organizations and by participation in workshops and conferences coordinated with other local and regional organizations and agencies.
  • Create, maintain, and review client files to meet program goals.
  • Responsible for supporting the development and capturing metrics for business starts, job creation, increase of sales, access to capital and increases in equity by conducting follow-up activities to facilitate and enhance service delivery and assessment.
  • Some regional travel may be required.
