About The Position

The Business/Computer and Information Technology Teacher (BCIT) at Mars Area School District is responsible for developing students' business academics and skills, including word processing, bookkeeping, and understanding the American business system. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • State Certification in Business/Computer and Information Technology (BCIT).
  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of business education curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems and data analysis.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.

  • Classroom management experience (1 year preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer business education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small group instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into effective learning experiences.
  • Teach subjects such as typing, bookkeeping, office procedures, and business communications to secondary students.
  • Provide instruction on the use of office equipment and technology, including computer network systems.
  • Prepare instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.
  • Instruct students in the safe operation of business equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instructional methods as needed.
  • Acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, and research.
  • Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities.
  • Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior in the classroom.
  • Coordinate with other professional staff and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
