About The Position

The Business Banking Specialist supports the growth and retention of business relationships by delivering comprehensive banking solutions that help customers operate more efficiently, securely, and confidently. This role combines treasury management expertise and sales with broader business banking responsibilities, including growing core deposits and identifying loan opportunities. Using a consultative, needs-based approach, this position focuses on building strong, long-term relationships with small to mid-size business customers. The specialist partners closely with commercial lenders, branch teams, and electronic banking partners to sell treasury management services, increase deposit balances, generate loan referrals, and grow non-interest income.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting or participating in consultative, solutions-based sales conversations
  • Strong working knowledge of treasury management and cash management products preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of products and services to support the banking needs of small to mid-sized businesses
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized, customer-focused, and comfortable managing multiple relationships
  • Ability to work independently and proactively while collaborating closely with internal partners
  • Proficiency with digital banking platforms and CRM tools preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in treasury management, business banking, or a related financial services role

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of treasury management and cash management products preferred
  • Proficiency with digital banking platforms and CRM tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with business customers by understanding their operational, cash flow, and borrowing needs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to grow business deposit balances through new account acquisition and expansion of existing relationships.
  • Identify and refer commercial loan opportunities by uncovering financing needs and partnering with commercial lenders.
  • Conduct consultative conversations to recommend appropriate treasury management services, including ACH, remote deposit capture, online and mobile banking, fraud prevention tools such as positive pay, and payment processing solutions.
  • Partner closely with commercial lenders, branch managers, and branch teams to support new business acquisition and relationship expansion.
  • Participate in joint sales calls and customer meetings as both a treasury management subject matter resource and business banking partner.
  • Lead product presentations, demonstrations, and solution discussions tailored to each customer’s financial goals.
  • Coordinate onboarding and implementation in collaboration with digital banking teams and internal partners to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Monitor assigned portfolio activity, deposit trends, product usage, and relationship performance to support retention and growth.
  • Proactively identify cross-sell opportunities that deepen relationships, increase service adoption, and expand wallet share.
  • Support ongoing relationship reviews, including annual treasury management site visits, and overall banking relationship performance.
  • Champion treasury management and business banking solutions, such as Autobooks, internally through education, engagement, and collaboration.
  • Stay current on banking products, treasury management technology, and regulatory requirements, including required continuing education.
  • Represent the bank at community events, networking functions, and business activities to strengthen relationships and generate new business opportunities.
