The Business Banking Relationship Manager cultivates, builds, and manages relationships with a portfolio of small business clients to build a pipeline of new business and increase BMO’s market share. This role involves applying professional consultative sales and business development practices, actively identifying opportunities, and referring to BMO colleagues as appropriate. The manager proactively develops and executes sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships, building internal and external networks and referral sources. Key responsibilities include generating appointments, developing and executing a business plan for customer retention, identifying prospective customers, and cross-selling products and services. The position requires developing client rapport, understanding the local market, and building relationships with centers of influence. The manager delivers exceptional customer service, provides expertise, responsive service, and support, and maintains long-term profitable relationships to expand wallet share. They answer inquiries, provide accurate information about business banking products and services, understand customer needs, and offer financial solutions. The role also involves resolving or escalating issues, developing solutions and recommendations based on business strategy, and providing advice on solution implementation. The manager breaks down strategic problems, analyzes data, monitors performance, coordinates database management, and builds change management plans. They provide input into operational programs, execute work for timely service, and support program development. Adherence to security and safeguarding procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and identifying and mitigating risks in accordance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements are crucial. The role primarily focuses on business/group within BMO, may have a broader enterprise-wide focus, and requires independent judgment to solve complex problems. The manager is expected to take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework.
