About The Position

The Business Banking Associate plays a key role in supporting Gate City Bank’s Business Bankers by managing essential administrative, operational, and client support functions. This position helps ensure a smooth lending process, exceptional client experience, and strong compliance practices. From coordinating loan documentation to onboarding new customers, you will help keep our commercial banking operations running efficiently while building trusted relationships across our teams.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of banking experience, with demonstrated ability to manage complex workflows and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong client service orientation and effective problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements (BSA/AML, OFAC) preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally across teams and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for Business Bankers and commercial clients, handling administrative tasks, loan documentation, renewals, and portfolio management.
• Prepare, review, and process commercial loan documentation, including renewals and modifications.
• Coordinate with credit, legal, compliance, and loan operations teams to ensure timely, accurate loan closings.
• Monitor loan covenants, maturities, and compliance requirements; proactively follow up on exceptions.
• Lead onboarding for new commercial clients, including due diligence, KYC/AML documentation, and account setup.
• Assist in preparing credit packages, financial spreads, and portfolio reports.
• Support Business Bankers with client presentations, relationship reviews, and sales-related needs.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Potentially manage a portfolio of existing commercial customers, ensuring strong service, accuracy, and compliance.
