About The Position

The Business Associate at Advocate Aurora Health is responsible for providing exceptional customer service during the patient registration process. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of hospital registration, billing, or collection experience.
  • Knowledge of third-party payors and the Allegra system preferred.
  • Strong medical terminology background preferred, with certification in medical terminology within one year of employment.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of PC computer keyboard with data entry experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Allegra experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to type 20-30 words per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all job duties under strict customer service standards according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist patients and their families in obtaining accurate personal and medical information during the registration process.
  • Address and handle patient needs according to specific conditions, such as age or medical disability.
  • Provide accurate price quotations for self-pay and co-pay customers.
  • Maintain professional composure under stressful situations.
  • Direct or escort patients to service areas as required.
  • Promote increased utilization of services by maintaining a customer-focused attitude.
  • Ensure patient waiting times do not exceed established standards of 5-7 minutes.
  • Greet and acknowledge patients and family members in a professional manner according to guidelines.
  • Utilize appropriate telephone etiquette and handle confidential information according to policies.
  • Perform patient interviews to document demographic and medical coverage information.
  • Verify patient information with system records and ensure accurate data entry for billing.
  • Ensure all required signatures and information for clean claim billing are obtained and documented.
  • Collect self-pay and co-pay expenses and document appropriately.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and provide recommendations for process improvement.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring high-quality documentation.
