The Business Assistant I will be responsible for various tasks that include payroll reconciliation, purchase order management, and assisting faculty and students with financial transactions. The Business Assistant I will handle day-to-day and monthly payroll reconciliation, ensuring accuracy in financial entries and adjustments. This includes serving as the department's HCM Timekeeper and payroll preparer, entering all payroll-related information for new hires, terminations, and transfers. The role also involves generating purchase orders through the university's Marketplace system and assisting faculty, lab personnel, and students with complex orders, wire transfers, check requests, and non-PO uploads. Additionally, the assistant will reconcile Federal Work Study students' hourly payroll and manage the department copier, liaising with suppliers and tracking purchase order balances. Under guidance, the Business Assistant I will review the General Ledger for open commitments and take necessary actions to cancel, close, or rectify entries. The position also requires handling logistics for departmental events, faculty recruitment, and weekly seminars, as well as assisting in the preparation of appointment and reappointment letters for teaching and graduate assistants and fellowships. This multifaceted role is essential for maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the Biomedical Engineering department.
