Role Summary Internship Term: Summer 2026 Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2026 through June 2028. Rivian's Internship Program requires active student enrollment. Information regarding your expected degree completion date is collected solely to verify eligibility and determine your availability for future full-time opportunities. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain deep exposure to the governance, risk, and compliance function within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The internship will work directly with the Plant Controllership Team, focusing primarily on driving operational control effectiveness and improving process efficiency. The role is centered on evaluating and strengthening the controls that govern our day-to-day plant operations. This role is ideal for a student looking to bridge academic concepts with real world operational auditing and process risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree at an accredited university
  • Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, including operational teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic programming or data analytics skills (e.g., Python, SQL, or exposure to tools like Databricks or Tableau) are a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Control Testing: Perform walk-throughs and testing of controls designed to mitigate operational risks and process failures, ensuring controls are operating effectively.
  • Control Testing Automation & AI Development: Refine and enhance the existing control testing automation process. This includes leveraging analytics and using AI/LLM tools to develop, document, and implement automated testing steps for continuous monitoring.
  • Process Documentation: Assist in developing and updating process narratives, control matrices, and flowcharts for key operational business cycles.
  • Process Improvement Projects: Participate in ad-hoc projects related to process efficiency improvements.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: This role requires advanced interpersonal skills to confidently conduct professional interviews, translate complex operational risks into executive summaries, and maintain collaborative relationships with process owners and leadership across all levels.
