Overview: The Business Analytics Intern supports the Category Management team by providing data-driven insights to enhance vendor relationships, optimize product category performance, and support strategic decision-making. This role works closely with category managers, vendor partners, sales, and marketing teams to analyze product performance, pricing trends, and supplier activity. Through training and hands-on projects, you will gain exposure to vendor coordination processes, product lifecycle management, and category strategy. You will build relationships across departments and develop both technical and business skills by working on real-time analytics initiatives that directly impact category growth and vendor alignment. Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present findings clearly.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), or other data analysis tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Completed sophomore-level coursework.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools is a plus.
  • Interest in supply chain, vendor management, or category strategy is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze internal and external data related to product categories, vendors, pricing, and sales performance.
  • Support category managers in evaluating vendor performance, product assortment, and category profitability.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within product categories to support strategic planning and vendor discussions.
  • Assist in preparing data-driven reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders and vendor meetings.
  • Collaborate with category management, purchasing, sales, and marketing teams to align on product strategies and initiatives.
  • Support vendor coordination efforts, including tracking performance metrics, managing product data, and assisting with vendor communications.
  • Contribute to pricing and promotional analysis to support category growth and competitiveness.
  • Develop an understanding of supplier relationships, product portfolios, and industry trends relevant to assigned categories.
  • Proactively research analytics tools and methods to improve data visibility and reporting efficiency.
