About The Position

Business Analyst II performs journey-level analytical, reporting, and process improvement work in support of assigned departments, programs, or initiatives across Grant PUD. This position is responsible for independently conducting moderately complex analysis, developing meaningful insights, and supporting decision-making related to operational performance, financial planning, asset management, compliance, and strategic initiatives. The incumbent works with limited supervision, applies established analytical frameworks and methodologies, and collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable analysis and recommendations. While this role does not have formal supervisory responsibility, it may provide functional guidance to Business Analyst I staff or temporary resources and serves as a key contributor on departmental or cross-functional teams. Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, the ability to manage work independently within defined objectives, and effective communication with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, or a related field, or 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of progressively responsible experience in business analytics, data management, reporting and other specific business-related experience.
  • Solid understanding of business analysis principles, analytical techniques, and reporting practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present analytical findings to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and reporting or visualization tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a public utility, government, or regulated industry environment.
  • Experience supporting initiatives in project management, business analytics, capital and/or O&M planning, budgeting, compliance, or operational performance initiatives.
  • Beginner to moderate level of experience with enterprise systems including data visualization platforms (e.g. PowerBI) and project management tools.
  • Professional certifications in areas such as business analytics, project management, strategy development or data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex business, financial, operational, or data analysis to support departmental objectives, planning activities, and decision-making.
  • Independently collect, validate, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, performance metrics, and analytical models using established tools and methodologies.
  • Translate business requirements into analytical work products, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Support project planning and execution by performing options analysis, impact assessments, and scenario evaluations within defined scope.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven reports, presentations, and summaries for management and stakeholder review.
  • Document and analyze business processes, workflows, and procedures; recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, or compliance.
  • Support departmental budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking activities; analyze variances and explain drivers.
  • Monitor progress against plans, schedules, or performance targets; identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders; facilitate discussions related to requirements gathering, analysis findings, or process improvements as appropriate.
  • Provide functional guidance or mentoring to Business Analyst I staff, interns, or temporary resources as assigned.
  • Coordinate with vendors, consultants, or contractors on data collection, reporting, or analysis tasks within defined parameters.
  • Ensure analytical work aligns with Grant PUD policies, governance standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Identify inefficiencies, risks, or data quality issues and proactively recommend solutions supported by analysis.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and Grant PUD / IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.
  • Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & Procedures.

  • Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to: Following all safety policies and procedures.   • Document, evaluate, and map Large Power Solutions workflows and procedures; recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, service quality, customer experience and internal controls across industrial account management and new business functions.
  • Support execution of department initiatives by coordinating strategy workshops, maintaining the Large Power Solutions strategic roadmap, applying project management methodologies, tracking milestones, updating department Kanban boards, and performing administrative and analytical tasks to advance strategic objectives.
  • Develop and execute customer communication and engagement plans for department initiatives leveraging communication best practices to ensure messaging is clear, timely, accurate and aligned to the deployment of new services, products, policies, and processes.
  • Assist in the development, review, and refinement of department policies by facilitating collaboration with SME, drafting and maintaining supporting documentation, coordinating stakeholder feedback, and ensuring alignment and consistency across the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison between Large Power Solutions and internal departments, including but not limited to: Power Delivery Engineering, Construction & Maintenance, Transmission Planning, Load Forecasting, Energy Supply Management, Project Management etc. for the coordination of Large Power Solutions initiatives.
  • Triage complex and/or non-standard customer requests that require extensive cross functional coordination to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain organized systems for departmental documents and records ensuring accuracy, accessibility and compliance with records management standards.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the department including, but not limited to, preparing materials/agendas and post meeting follow up action items.
