About The Position

The Business Analyst I, reporting to the Manager, Business Analysis, is responsible for eliciting, documenting, and validating the business and operational needs of Barrett’s internal and/or external customers. Working closely with the Project Manager, Technical Business Analyst, Project Stakeholders and Project Sponsors will assist in determining the project scope and vision as well as identifying, scheduling, and validating deliverables for a project. The Business Analyst I plays a critical role in bridging the gap of understanding between the business, customer, and facility teams. This is done by aligning with the Customer on an operational scope, translating business requirements into project artifacts, and understanding the impact of operational changes on project scope and vice versa. The compensation range for this position is $65K-$75K, depending on experience. This shift works 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in the field of business administration, information systems, data science or relevant field. May substitute 8+ years of directly related experience in lieu of degree.
  • One (1) to three (3) years as a business analyst, implementation analyst, systems analyst, or related role.
  • Experience with business requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development preferred.
  • Working knowledge and exposure to project management skills, including planning, organizing, and managing work and resources.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, organizing, and managing work and resources.
  • Possesses a high degree of technical savvy, with a keen ability to learn new technology quickly and easily.
  • Strategic and innovative mindset, with the desire to act quickly, think critically, challenge the status quo, create innovative solutions, and drive transformation.
  • Displays energy, enthusiasm, and an even temperament, particularly during stressful situations. Applies a constructive, positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex concepts into terms and format appropriate for the audience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows applications and experience using process diagraming tools such as Visio.
  • Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
  • Strong emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificates in business analysis and/or project management preferred (e.g. PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, CCBA, CBAP, CPO, PMP)
  • Prior Warehouse / Logistics experience preferred.
  • Synapse (WMS) experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Applies warehouse operational knowledge, the use of brainstorming, interviews with SMEs, mentorship from other analysts, and project artifacts to gather customer requirements via interviews, workshops (brainstorming, mind-mapping, modeling, gap analysis, etc.), questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
  • Translates conceptual customer requirements into business requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to those performing the work.
  • Utilizes and provides feedback on the standard business requirements document template(s) to define a project's functional and non-functional requirements to accurately reflect the desired future state solution.
  • Assists with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options and communicates these back to business stakeholders.
  • Works closely with internal stakeholders and external customers to develop personas, assess complexity, and identify potential risks and opportunities that can be incorporated into the project scope.
  • Adheres to and provides feedback on all business analysis frameworks, standards, and deliverables to improve alignment between the customer’s needs and operational solutions.
  • Performs data analysis, including data examination, purification, transformation and styling with an objective of locating important information, informing decision making, and validating conclusions.
  • Adheres to and provides feedback on all User Acceptance Testing Process(es) currently in place (per the current IT Testing Governance Policy), including defining the end-to-end test cases, test case format, tracking, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Validates that requirements have been completely and accurately incorporated into the solution by tracking the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to keep them updated on progress.
  • Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements — verbally and through written documentation — to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Applies Barrett Distribution PMO and industry standards to work products, ensuring accurate and concisely written requirements and other documentation.
  • Monitor implementation and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
  • Works with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Provides feedback on currently used Business Analyst tools, templates, and processes that could increase the speed and quality of PMO work products.
  • Contributes and participates in peer reviews of Business Analyst deliverables to ensure consistent compliance to PMO policies and standards.
  • Under the guidance of management, may also serve as Project Manager when appropriate, applying PMO best practices to ensure the timely delivery of project objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
