GFT is seeking a Business Analyst to join our Geosptial Team in either Baltimore, MD or Richmond, VA ! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the office. What you’ll be challenged to do: This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Business Analyst who thrives in a collaborative team environment. As a Business Analyst, you will demonstratee experience with documenting complex business processes, eliciting business requirements, modeling business process, compiling use cases and user stories, and supporting the design of workflows and operations. You must thrive in a high energy environment, excel at working without significant supervision, be independently motivated, outgoing, diplomatic, detailed, schedule driven and accountable. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business operations and workflow analysis, training, client relations, public speaking, technical writing and/or project life cycle documentation
  • Familiarity and experience on agile and waterfall projects
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work directly with clients to gather requirements based on their needs and translate those requirements into tasks for developers
  • Ability to operate as a member of a project team tasked to complete scheduled deliverables for a client

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other professional certifications related to the professions of Business Analysis or Project Management
  • Familiarity with GIS and/or geospatial technology
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or JIRA
  • Experience working as a consultant with government clients
  • Experience managing small projects

Responsibilities

  • Participate in requirements elicitation with client to define needs
  • Document As-Is environment and business workflows
  • Model business processes
  • Support the compilation of To-Be environment and business workflows
  • Participate in agile and waterfall software development lifecycles
  • Author requirements, design, and training documentation
  • Support training materials and support training class delivery based on varying client needs
  • Work in multi-disciplinary project teams made up of software developers, business analysts, GIS analysts, technical managers, and business subject matter experts
  • Participate in project team meetings with client mgmt. and other contractors
  • Document meeting minutes, draft business needs assessments, and perform gap analysis
  • Resolve problems within working teams and with clients
  • Compile user stories with the requisite details and acceptance criteria
  • Develop and execute test cases to confirm system requirements
  • Generate mock-ups, wireframes, or related graphics to illustrate requirements or workflows.
  • Work with developers to clarify requirements throughout the application development process
