About The Position

As a Business Affairs Administrator, you will be responsible for licensing content to and from third parties and processing royalties. This includes maintaining the royalty system data, communicating with licensing and royalty clients, and assisting in other processes in support of Business Affairs. You are a continuous learner with a hunger for knowledge. You approach challenges as opportunities to improve. You value team members’ input from all levels and you actively seek ways to support your colleagues. You will sit directly with the Business Affairs team, work in close collaboration with Production, Sales and Customer Service, Accounting and report to the Senior Manager, Business Affairs.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of copyright and licensing as it pertains to the music industry
  • General music information and concepts
  • General business affairs practices and procedures
  • Performing Rights Organizations, Mechanical Licensing Collectives and Publishers
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with respect to contracts and licensing documents
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to focus on attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to pivot quickly and handle multiple projects of competing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience in royalties and/or licensing at a music publishing company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to consistently work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace

Responsibilities

  • Match, process and reconcile third-party payments into the Alfred Royalty System (ARS)
  • Maintains royalty payable data, client data, copyright notices, publisher splits and song information in ARS.
  • Communicates promptly and professionally with royalty and licensing clients
  • Receive and process, 3rd party license requests

  • Copyright and Performance Rights Organization (PRO) Registration
  • Copyright claim and publisher research
