About The Position

The Business Administrator at the University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of various sections within the department. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of sections in the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of office organization and function, identifying operational deficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with coordination of functions necessary to support research groups.
  • Provide broad administrative support, including oversight of academic appointments and medical staff privileges.
  • Coordinate functions necessary to support residency and fellowship training programs, including management of interview schedules.
  • Assist Section Chief and Section Administrator with operational and administrative needs.
  • Manage special projects or functions related to the organizational unit.
  • Serve as a liaison with Research Administration and support management of research accounts.
  • Manage various HR needs in partnership with Departmental Human Resources (HR).
  • Research, compile, and analyze data to create reports and proposals.
  • Assist in space planning and adjustments, managing day-to-day facility issues.
  • Monitor finances for the clinical section and ensure adherence to budget limits.
  • Assist faculty in pursuing grants and awards.
