About The Position

Provide student support to transportation to/from school during morning and afternoon bus runs. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders. This position supports the needs of students with multiple disabilities while on district transportation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Current First Aid and CPR (or obtained within first six months of employment).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to students during arrival and dismissal, including safely escorting students to and from buses and designated areas.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those who may require physical assistance or specialized support.
  • Assists the driver in the use of specialized equipment such as harnesses, seatbelts, wheelchairs, lifts, tie downs etc.
  • Monitor student behavior on the bus and at loading/unloading zones to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment.
  • Implement behavior support strategies as directed and promptly report concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, bus drivers, and school staff to promote clear communication and proactive problem-solving.
  • Address minor concerns early and communicate patterns of behavior or safety issues to administrators as needed.
  • Support the implementation of student-specific plans, including IEPs, behavior plans, or medical accommodations, while maintaining confidentiality of student information.
  • Follow district policies and procedures related to student supervision, safety protocols, and emergency response.
  • Assist in emergency drills and respond appropriately in crisis situations.
  • Maintain accurate records or documentation as required, including incident reports or communication logs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested to support safe and efficient student transportation operations.
