About The Position
Transdev and the Fairfax Connector are seeking qualified individuals with a valid CDL and Passenger Endorsement to help connect Fairfax County! As a Bus Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe and timely transportation for passengers across designated routes. This position offers paid training, a pay rate increase after successful completion of training, and a range of health and wellness benefits. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a vehicle on an assigned route, transporting passengers to and from various locations. Your duties will include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring cleanliness and safety, and logging into the AVL system prior to service. You will also be required to report any emergencies, service disruptions, and other occurrences, while accommodating the use of vehicle-mounted bicycle racks. As a Bus Operator, you will manage fare collection and ensure accurate recording of passenger boardings, including fare evasion instances. You will maintain route sheets, communicate effectively with passengers regarding fares, and operate two-way communication equipment according to company policy. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a presentable appearance, promote goodwill among passengers and colleagues, and comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to vehicle operation. This position requires a commitment to safety and customer service, as you will be interacting with the public and ensuring a positive experience for all passengers. You will also be expected to attend required training sessions and meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
