About The Position

Under general direction of the Assistant Parking Guest Services Manager, the Bus Operations Shift Supervisor directs personnel who assist the public by providing customer service and transportation for aircraft hardstands, special events, and emergency response bus service. They oversee the scheduling of personnel and vehicles and monitor the distribution and maintenance of equipment. Ensures the proper execution of aircraft hardstand bus operations and maintains section compliance with Federal, State, Local regulations and DFW Board policies.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in customer service, transportation, or related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Must have a good private driving record.
  • Must be able to meet all initial and recurrent training requirements in accordance with Title 14 CFR part 139 and administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area (AOA) within 30 days of assignment to a driving position and before being permitted to operate the vehicle without the direct supervision and presence of a co-operator qualified under this requirement.
  • Knowledge of Airport Board transportation standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the organization and functions of the Airport Board.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment.
  • Ability to work hours determined by shift assignments.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer with Windows operating system.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively.
  • Ability to work under distractions and to think and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Ability to maintain effective and harmonious internal and external working relationships.
  • Vision (near/far/depth) ability to operate controls onboard bus, safely drive and navigate through traffic.
  • Hearing ability at level to hear two/way radio transmissions and to safely monitor immediate traffic noise and emergency sirens.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport's Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Airport Bus Operator and Bus Operations Shift Lead staff.
  • Trains, provides feedback and counsels direct reports, liaises with leadership around any employee relations matters as required, and evaluates performance of direct reports and front-line employees.
  • Ensures completion of all recurring data collection activities; receives and processes reports of problems involving inoperative equipment; monitors employees' daily time and attendance on shift and maintains attendance records.
  • Confers with the Assistant Guest Services Manager on programs and policies; receives briefings from Bus Transportation Shift Leads regarding shift status.
  • Oversees section response to aircraft emergencies and other emergency situations.
  • Represents the Transportation Business Unit in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergency activations where required.
  • Responds to the Emergency Operations Center in the role of Airport Support Function #1 (ASF#1) during emergency activations.
  • Represents section at planning meetings for special events and Air Operations Area (AOA) operations for both Board and internal/external clients.
  • Coordinates response to DFW Airport Operations requests for off-gate bussing operations, coordinates special bus service requests and AOA bus response requested by the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) on behalf of airport and/or external stakeholders.
  • Attends meetings on behalf of section Manager/Assistant Manager as needed.
  • Assists the Guest Services Assistant Manager in compiling data and completing reports regarding bus service, passenger counts, and trends.
  • Work with Fleet Maintenance staff to coordinate service and repair of bus/vehicle fleet.
  • Addresses and resolves customer complaints and concerns; coordinates delivery of lost items to designated location.
  • Other duties as assigned.
