The Bus Aide provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum during the school year.

Requirements

• Prior aide experiences a plus
• Ability to speak and communicate with bus driver and students
• Requires a valid State Driver's license.
• Working knowledge: Sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students getting on and off the bus to ensure their safety.
• Daily cleans the interior of the bus and washes windows as needed.
• Supervises the students while riding the bus to ensure their safety.
• While riding the bus, all of the aide’s attention should be directed towards keeping students in their seats and when required buckled using the provided safety harnesses/belts.
• Is aware of the requirements of transporting wheelchair-bound students if necessary.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
• Keeps assigned bus clean.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops and transports only authorized students.
• Assists the bus driver when needed.
• Back up Special Needs van driver if needed.
