Under basic supervision, operates school bus on assigned routes to and from school and special events; inspects and cleans vehicles daily, monitors passenger behavior, and provides safe and secure transportation service to students in compliance with regulatory, safety, and service standards. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Drives students to and from school and special events in accordance with District policies and procedures; duties may vary according to job assignment. Drives bus in compliance with state and federal safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Monitors and assists students, and enforces MPS policies and rules of conduct; reports behavior issues and other concerns to supervisor. Assists in securing special needs students and special equipment. Completes all required written reports. Performs daily vehicle inspections, assures the bus is operating correctly, has proper fuel and fluids, and identifies vehicle problems requiring additional maintenance and repair. Reports safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations. Reports unsafe acts, road conditions, accidents, and injuries; responds to emergencies as needed. Cleans the bus interior and exterior, sweeps the floors, and cleans windows and seats. Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
