About The Position

The Bus Driver drives SourcePoint’s 14-passenger bus and Go Van, on an irregular schedule, and is responsible for the safe transportation of participants in community programs, or other designated SourcePoint services. Routes include, but are not limited to, day trips, program excursions, collaborations with community partners and assistance with SourcePoint medical transportation service.

Requirements

  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find locations
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse individuals
  • Ability to read, write and communicate clearly
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to make decisions independently
  • Ability to promote a positive work culture both within the organization and in the community
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and acceptable driving record
  • Twenty-one (21) years of age or older with at least three (3) years of driving experience
  • Ability to work in all types of weather situations
  • Ability to safely navigate stairs and uneven terrain
  • Ability to work irregular schedules that may include weekday, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Transportation with SourcePoint 14-passenger Bus
  • Drive safely along designated routes; obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations
  • Provide door through door assistance for clients, ensuring safe and timely pick-up and drop-off at designated locations
  • Enter client homes to assist with shoes, coats, an arm to hold down steps, and push a wheelchair
  • Enter medical facilities to provide light assistance or push a wheelchair to the client’s appointment area
  • Use bus lift per policy and secure wheelchair tie downs per vehicle directions
  • Communicate with passengers and employers regarding delays or issues along a route
  • Be available by phone between passenger drop-off and return trip, while on duty
  • Be prepared to respond appropriately to emergencies per Emergency Response Plan
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bus after each usage
  • Complete pre-trip check, including vehicle tires, lights, and oil before leaving SourcePoint; maintain operating/safety records and report any variations or discrepancies to Community Engagement Manager
  • Respond to and communicate about transportation requests via email
  • Complete timesheet
  • Complete and pass all driving education/practical demonstrations, as required by SourcePoint
  • Attend and participate in all-staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service education programs, as required
  • Complete 6 paid hours of training per year in the areas of older adults or driving safety
