About The Position

Responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from our centers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CDL Class B license with S and P Endorsements, which must be carried at all times while operating a bus owned by Child Development Centers, Inc.
  • Must be eligible as an insured motorist on all company motor vehicle policies and coverages
  • Must possess or obtain required state and federal background clearances
  • Driver must carry a copy of current PA School Bus Driver Physical Examination Certificate at all times while operating a bus owned by Child Development Centers, Inc.
  • Must attend meetings and training as required.
  • Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
  • May require travel to other centers within the county
  • Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
  • Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
  • Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe daily operation of school bus to transport students to and from centers according to an agency-established route.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations; driver will be responsible for any fines incurred due to failure to abide by aforementioned laws.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections in accordance with state laws.
  • Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed, including conducting routine evacuation drills.
  • Communicate mechanical problems to the Bussing Manager.
  • Perform daily housekeeping to maintain a clean interior free from clutter and debris. This includes sweeping the floor, throwing away trash left on the bus, and cleaning the windows/windshield and exterior lights.
  • Regularly check the vehicle’s fuel level, ensuring the tank is never left below 1/3 tank of fuel.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of our students and families at all times.
  • Ensure student safety at all times. This includes confirming that no body parts or other items should be in aisleways while the bus is in motion.
  • Positively promote safety to students in a kind, courteous, and educational manner.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to all CDC policies and procedures as set forth in the policy manual.
