About The Position

Under the supervision of the Sr. Program Director, the Bus Driver is responsible for driving YMCA vehicles and ensuring safe trips for the passengers. He/she is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA. Requirements

  • Must have the competencies, skills and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals and vision for serving the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly through speech and understanding of the English language.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, work under stressful conditions on a regular basis, and have responsibility for the health and safety of others.
  • Must pass the YMCA bus driving assessment set forth from the Redwoods Insurance Group.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  • Must have a valid Class D Driver’s License.
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
  • Complete all required Redwoods trainings by their completion deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Driving YMCA vehicles and ensuring safe trips for the passengers.
  • Managing functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
  • Daily inspection of buses to make sure they are clean and working properly.
  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
  • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
