Apply today to the Bus Driver position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC). The Bus Driver plays an essential role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of Club members from school to the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Club. This position requires an individual who is safety-driven and dependable. The Bus Driver will operate a 14-passenger Club vehicle and must uphold all transportation policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Strong commitment to safety and to creating a positive transportation experience for youth.
- Ability to follow structured routes and adhere to scheduled pick-up times.
- Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a clean driving record and pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Pass pre-employment background screening and drug test.
- Ability to enter/exit the vehicle frequently and assist youth as needed.
- Must be insurable under the BGCSDC vehicle policy.
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience
- Pass pre-employment background screening and drug test
- The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 10 lbs.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 14-passenger Club bus to transport members from local schools to the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Club.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers by following all traffic laws, transportation regulations, and BGCSDC safety protocols.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any concerns or needed maintenance promptly.
- Maintain a clean, and orderly, environment inside the vehicle.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges while maintaining safety; follow protocols for escalating concerns to supervisors.
- Ensure accurate attendance and tracking of members during transport.
- Participate in safety trainings and maintain up-to-date knowledge of transportation requirements.
