The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-sponsored activities in compliance with state and federal regulations, Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines, and district policies. The Bus Driver ensures passenger safety, maintains student discipline, and conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle. This position supports the Scott County R-IV School District Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) by ensuring reliable student access to educational programs and activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The individual who holds this position has the responsibility to: Safely transport students on assigned routes and to extracurricular events. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and report mechanical issues promptly. Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and district policies while operating the bus. Maintain order and discipline among passengers on the bus. Assist students, including those with special needs, in safely boarding and exiting the bus. Report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions to the Transportation Director immediately. Complete required reports, including mileage, route logs, and student discipline referrals. Ensure that the bus is clean and presentable for daily use. Participate in required safety training, driver meetings, and professional development. Follow emergency procedures in the event of an accident or breakdown. Support implementation of CSIP goals related to safe and reliable student transportation.Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent.
