About The Position

Walnut Valley Unified is seeking a dedicated School Bus Driver to join our team. The selected applicant will be responsible for the safe transportation of students, ensuring their well-being during transit. This position requires a commitment to our mission of prioritizing 'KIDS FIRST - Every Student, Every Day' and preparing students for success in a rapidly changing global economy. Applicants will undergo a thorough background check through DOJ, FBI, and NASDTEC to ensure the safety and security of our students.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in the transportation of students or completion of a school bus driver training program.
  • Possession of a valid School Bus Driver's Certificate with restrictions 0 or 1, issued by the appropriate agency, including the passage of a first aid examination.
  • Possession of a valid Class A or B California Motor Vehicle Operator's License with passenger and school bus endorsements and Air Brake Certification.
  • Equivalent to the completion of High School.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to school transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Transport students safely to and from school and school-related activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transit.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Complete required documentation and reports as needed.
