About The Position

The Bus Driver/Custodian position involves performing thorough cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and dusting throughout assigned areas during assigned hours. Responsibilities include ensuring that areas are properly maintained, replacing burned-out light bulbs, cleaning and stocking restrooms, and reporting facilities in need of repair. The role also includes providing minor maintenance repairs, moving furniture, setting up chairs and equipment for special events, and picking up trash. Seasonal duties such as snow removal and salting are also part of the job. In addition to custodial duties, the position requires driving the shuttle bus as needed and providing necessary transportation during shifts, including mail runs and special events. A valid driver's license and maintaining insurability through the College's insurance are required.

Requirements

  • One year experience driving a bus.
  • One year related experience in custodial cleaning and equipment in a commercial environment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with CDL with passenger endorsement.
  • Maintain insurability through the College's insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of custodial processes and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of laws concerning the driving of passengers.
  • Ability to properly operate custodial equipment including floor buffer, walk behind scrubber, and carpet extractor.
  • Ability to take and understand verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain good rapport with constituents and co-workers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in an organized fashion.
  • Team-oriented and professional in approach to detail-oriented tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up trash by emptying wastebaskets and taking refuse to assigned outside work area.
  • Clean windows and remove soil from walls, furniture, and office equipment.
  • Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal and salting.
  • Drive the shuttle bus as needed and provide necessary transportation during shift.
