About The Position

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Being responsible for driving a bus and ensuring the safe transportation of high school students to and from the campus. Additional duties include performing daily bus inspections (pre-trip and post-trip), maintaining order while in transit, following state guidelines, and keeping the bus clean. The bus route position is from Northeast Tech to partner high schools and back to Northeast Tech up to three times per day, or as directed by Campus Administrator. Culinarian duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with food preparation and service during breaks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must possess a current valid Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate and a school bus/commercial driver’s license
  • Air brake endorsement required
  • Pass a national criminal background check with fingerprints and pass a DOT physical exam and drug screening prior to start of employment
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have the ability to give and receive instructions
  • Get along with others
  • Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality in the workplace
  • Have the physical ability to lift in excess of 40 pounds
  • Be a self-starter and be able to work well without direct supervision
  • Get along well with high school students and possess good people skills
  • Must maintain a current CDL and credentials to drive a school bus in Oklahoma
  • Perform daily bus inspections (pre-trip and post-trip), following state guidelines
  • Maintain order while in transit
  • Cleaning and upkeep of bus
  • Conduct bus evacuation drills as required by State Law
  • Annual health certificate signed by a physician licensed in Oklahoma attesting that the physician has examined the driver and that the driver has no sign or symptoms of ill health, and is otherwise, from the observation of such physician, physically and mentally capable of safely operating a school bus
  • Subject to regular random drug/alcohol/DOT physical testing as well as post-accident testing when federal or state law, or board policy requires
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Must be able to prepare food items in a commercial-style kitchen
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
  • Cannot be related to any of the currently seated school board members within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Must be able to change priorities, and schedules as needed
  • Must be capable of being calm with and professional with numerous different personalities at various levels

Nice To Haves

  • Computer skills are also preferred
  • Experience in food preparation would be a plus

Responsibilities

  • Keeping the bus clean
  • Safely transport students between Northeast Tech and partner high schools up to three times per day, or as directed following schedule set by supervisor
  • Arranges setup for food items, supplies, serving lines, and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements
  • Assists in the cleaning of utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas (e.g. ovens, steamers, fryers, mixers, slicers, freezers, dishes, tableware, kitchen utensils, counters, carts, racks, and dishwashing machine, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions
  • Operates cash register or handles financial transactions in accordance with district policy
  • Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature
  • Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health standards
  • Prepares and serves food and beverage items to students and school personnel
  • Regular attendance following a designated work schedule
  • Must be able to work scheduled and extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities
  • Any other duties assigned by Supervisor and/or Superintendent
