About The Position

Landon School seeks a dependable and versatile Bus Driver and General Maintenance Technician to support both the safe transportation of students and to assist with the upkeep of campus facilities which includes a 75-acre campus and 17 buildings. This dual-role position is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning campus while ensuring reliable transportation for students and school programs.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass required background checks and drug screening
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials on a regular basis
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in general maintenance, facilities, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate school buses and other vehicles to transport students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other activities
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintain order and ensure student safety while on the bus
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Manager and school staff regarding schedules and route changes
  • Assist with loading and unloading of students and equipment as needed
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work across campus, including painting, changing light bulbs and general facilities related tasks
  • Support campus operations including event setup and breakdown, furniture moving, and room configurations
  • Assist with carpool operations and other daily campus logistics
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of facilities and equipment
  • Replace light bulbs, fixtures, and perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Maintain cleanliness of campus grounds including trash removal, sweeping, and general upkeep
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
  • Support snow and ice removal efforts during inclement weather
  • Other duties as assigned
