About the position
The position involves performing a daily safety check on the bus before driving and assisting in maintaining the bus in a clean and safe operating condition. The bus driver will drive the bus daily over designated routes, picking up and discharging students in accordance with time schedules. Additionally, the driver will escort pupils across streets and roads as necessary and required, and transport students and instructors on special trips to various locations according to a planned schedule. The driver must ensure that all laws and regulations as set forth by the Education Code, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Board of Trustees are met. The role also includes general maintenance of school facilities from a prepared schedule, which involves general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, removing cobwebs, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, and cleaning windows, door glass, metalwork, concrete, linoleum, tile, and wood floors. Minor construction work on buildings, including painting and cement work, is also part of the job. The driver will water shrubs and lawns, weed, and maintain small lawn and flower areas, as well as make minor repairs to sprinklers. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Six months of recent experience as a bus driver or one year of commercial driving experience or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid CA License with Passenger Transportation endorsement.
- Valid CA Bus Driver Certificate and a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification as required for bus drivers.
- Ability to pass medical examination as required for school bus drivers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others.
