About The Position

This is responsible work which involves maintaining order and ensuring the safety of the children who will ride his/her assigned route. The role extends to walking students across the street for purposes of boarding or disembarking the school bus at assigned stops. The attendant must always be concerned about the safe behavior of the children while the bus is in route. Employees in this position may be required to assist physically or mentally handicapped students if assigned to their route and are required to wear safety belts and, if assigned, uniforms. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the School Bus Operator and includes related work as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and ensure the safety of children on the assigned bus route.
• Assist students in boarding and disembarking the bus safely.
• Walk students across the street at assigned stops.
• Monitor the behavior of children during the bus route.
• Assist physically or mentally handicapped students if assigned to their route.
• Wear safety belts and uniforms as required.
