About The Position

The Bursar at Nashua Community College is responsible for managing and overseeing the student accounts functions, which include accounts receivables, collections, and student financial aid transmittals. This full-time position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial operations within a higher education context and reports directly to the Business Affairs Officer. The Bursar will manage the daily operations of the Bursar's Office, ensuring that all work activities are directed efficiently and effectively. This includes compiling, processing, auditing, and reporting receivables and collections data, while maintaining compliance with accounting procedures and financial aid regulations. In this role, the Bursar will enter daily accounts receivable entries, adjust entries, and conduct audits of student accounts and financial aid refunding. The position also involves managing billing, collections, and loan disbursement activities, as well as counseling students and families regarding their financial obligations and available financial resources. The Bursar will process all financial aid disbursements in accordance with Federal guidelines and work closely with the System Director of Financial Aid to address any concerns related to disbursement. The Bursar will generate reports on revenue and collections activities for the Leadership Team and oversee the campus-level collection process, including student requests for waivers and credits. Collaboration with other departments, such as Academic Affairs and Admissions, is essential to ensure smooth student registration and onboarding processes. Additionally, the Bursar will provide training to staff from other departments and participate in orientation presentations to educate students about their financial obligations. Administrative duties include maintaining a safe work environment, training employees, monitoring job performance, and managing employee time and attendance in accordance with college policies. The Bursar must comply with all relevant college, state, and federal regulations and may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
