The UT Southwestern Department of Surgery, division of Burn, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery is seeking a Burn Surgeon to join a vibrant group of over 20 fellow surgeons and one of the largest and most prestigious fellowships in the country. Applicants for the rank of assistant, associate, and full professor will be considered. The successful applicant will join a team in the Burn Section practicing the full range of acute and reconstructive surgery. Applicants should enjoy educating trainees of various levels and will be an integral part of training 2 burn fellows annually. The division offers formal Positive Intelligence/Mental Fitness education and coaching for faculty, a focus on wellness, diverse perspectives and backgrounds, and a collegial environment. Applicants should be Board Certified in General Surgery or Plastic Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and be eligible for a Texas Medical License. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. The Division of Burn, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery performs more than 4500 operations per year while evaluating roughly 3500 trauma patients annually. The Burn Section provides care at Dallas County’s Parkland Hospital which has more than 30 inpatient beds and admits over 800 adult and pediatric burn patients annually. Additionally, the burn section provides reconstructive, and laser burn treatment at William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital (US News & World Report’s #1 hospital in DFW for the past 5 years) and outpatient surgery center and Children’s Health Dallas. UTSW is in the heart of the Dallas medical district and ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world. Nearly 4200 medical, graduate and allied health students, residents and postdoctoral fellows are trained at UTSW each year. The institution is the home of a NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program and the Department of Surgery also has a robust research infrastructure with 24/7 clinical enrollment, regulatory, statistical, and grant support.
