About The Position

GiaMed is seeking nurses to join their team at the prestigious Burn department at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), offering an opportunity to train and learn new skills. BAMC, located on Fort Sam Houston, is a state-of-the-art 425-bed Academic Medical Center, serving as the Department of Defense's largest facility and only Level 1 Trauma Center. The role offers a supportive environment focused on compassionate, patient-centered care for military families. GiaMed provides civilian staffing services to the hospital, working alongside active duty and GS nurses. As a GiaMed JV employee, civilian nurses can expect a structured environment, low patient ratios, a team including LVNs and Techs, no on-call duties, competitive pay, generous benefits, a slow rotation schedule (3 months days/3 months nights), and extensive training.

Requirements

• Must be U.S. Citizen
• Valid Registered Nursing license from any U.S. jurisdiction
• BLS and ACLS Certification Current
• Must have at least 2 years of full-time experience working as an RN in a Med Surg Unit, or 1 year full time in a burn unit within the past 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties and responsibilities the same as any other registered nurse on the same unit.
• Duties can include but are not limited to: team lead, precept, orientate, rapid response, and other tasks as needed.
• Manage patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring, titration of vasopressor drugs, and a wide range of procedures of an advanced nature and difficulty where there is a high risk for infection and bodily functions are mechanically assisted by life support equipment.
• Assist with invasive procedures and management, such as Swan/Ganz insertion, balloon pump management, temporary pacemaker insertion, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy.
• Perform nursing care for emergency and trauma patients to include pediatric thru adulthood.
• Able to triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system.
