About The Position

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Westmoreland County Bureau Reporter. This role involves creating story ideas, conducting interviews, developing sources, and delivering compelling live reports. The ideal candidate will be a proactive reporter who excels in enterprise reporting and is capable of breaking significant stories while maintaining journalistic integrity.

Requirements

• Professional or college reporting experience.
• Experience with enterprise reporting and ability to uncover details.
• A demo reel indicative of everyday work.
• Ability to write clear, correct, compelling copy that supports images gathered.
• Operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and a clear driving record.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.

Responsibilities

• Plan, gather and assemble stories on day-of news or special project assignments.
• Work with photographer to gather and edit compelling video and captivating sound.
• Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface details, accentuating unique enterprise angles and exclusive content.
• Develop a network of sources in the assigned geographic area to provide tips and early access to information.
• Contribute pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
• Manage multiple stories and projects simultaneously while meeting all deadlines under pressure.
• Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
